All written submissions must be in Times New Roman 12pt. font. Your first and last name should be in the title of your doc, pdf, jpeg, or png. Please include a trigger warning in your email to us if your work includes sexual assault, harassment, violence, or any other theme you feel our editors should be able to prepare for before reading. You are only allowed to submit work once a month. If your submission does not follow our submission guidelines it will be automatically rejected. We only accept original unpublished submissions in art, poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and book reviews. Simultaneous submissions are welcome, but we ask to be notified if the work is accepted elsewhere immediately. All copyrights revert to the author upon publication.

Poetry submissions should be single-spaced and not exceed more than 5 poems in a single pdf or doc.

Fiction and nonfiction submissions should double spaced and not exceed more than 14 pages in a pdf or doc format.

Reviews should be between 250-975 words in a pdf or doc format and about any completed creative work: i.e. Books, Movies, Music Albums, Art shows, Art Pieces, Short Stories, etc.

Art submissions should not exceed 8 pieces and should be formatted in pdf, jpeg, or png. Please include the title of your piece(s), the medium, the year it was made, and its dimensions.

We currently only accept submissions through our official email: thesockdrawerlitmag@gmail.com. Please put the kind of work you are submitting in your email subject line. Our online magazine happily welcomes submissions from writers and artists with any level of experience. We are interested in content that is both relevant to current social/political events as well as other concrete topics. We may request edits prior to publication for format and length issues.

The Sock Drawer is especially interested in hearing from voices that are regularly underrepresented: people of color, LGBTQIA+, people with disabilities, etc.
